Alfred S. Hagy, age 85 of the Thompson Valley community in Tazewell, VA died Thursday, February 28, 2013 at his home. Born April 18, 1928 in Tazewell County, VA, he was a son of the late Floyd and Laura Marie Kessee Hagy. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. Mr. Hagy retired from Blue Grass Oil Company of North Tazewell, VA after many years of employment with the company. He enjoyed singing and playing his guitar, along with visiting nursing home residents. Mr. Hagy was loved by all who knew him and he will be missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Lina Mae Brown Hagy who died October 20, 2012; three brothers, Burke Hagy, Charlie Hagy, and Ralph Hagy; four sisters, Nancy Hagy Gross, Ida Hagy Puckett, Carrie Hagy, and Pearl Hagy Puckett.

He is survived by one sister, Mabel Hagy Thompson of Thompson Valley, VA; several sisters and brothers in law; several nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Gary Powers and wife, Heather of Tazewell, VA and a special niece, Penny Wright and husband, James of Thompson Valley, VA; along with a host of friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with the Reverend Dennis McLemore officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell, VA. Pallbearers will be Curtis Lane, John Brown, Jr., Robbie Brown, Kevin Brown, James Wright, and Larry Brown.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 PM Saturday, March 2, 2013.
